Our research on internal control is extensive.

The figure shows a fragment of our management system architecture (and clicking on the picture will take you to the research paper).  It builds upon our work on measuring the effectiveness of internal control systems and brings together three important concepts:
  • Opportunity Exploitation Plans to exploit the opportunities that an organisation has to meet its business objectives

  • Risk Treatment Plans to deal with the events that lead to adverse impacts, and thereby manage its risks;

  • Alternative Ideas Lists, which act as a safety net to help ensure the completeness of the processes for "doing the work" and the controls for ensuring that the "work is done properly".
  • A Template IMS for the speedy construction of Integrated Management Systems in conformity to the various ISO standards as well as adhering to the principles discovered in our research

Clicking the picture to the left will take you to a road map which puts all of our research into internal control into context.
